O Mauritius!

Choosing the destination

So there I was, fleeting feverishly through a barrage of travel review websites trying to select a destination that could go with the time and money I had docked up. Planning a trip has never been one of my strong areas. It’s like I want to see everything in one go. Then there are places that you want to revisit again and again. You get to travel so not often and when you do, there’s just one place you can visit. Heavy with grief and yet excited, I put a lid on the histrionics and get down to finalising. What am I looking at? Affordability, comfort, a quiet time with the family and a healing treatment! What do I choose? Mauritius, a tropical island in the Indian Ocean that apparently revitalizes you completely!

The Mauritian holiday

Clear blue waters, white sandy beaches and a thriving flora and fauna are the highlights of Mauritius. No sooner you land here you find the joie de vivre that you had been missing so badly. Being a popular tourist destination, Mauritius can be crowded with visitors, especially during the peak season between September and January. As I was looking at some quiet time away from the crowd, I booked a villa in Mauritius. Villa Lear it’s called and comes with a fully equipped kitchen, fridge, washing machine, LCD TV, private pool and internet. We even had a maid to take care of the dishes and washing.

Explore more, learn more

It’s amazing what you get to learn the more you explore, and boy did we explore! In between boat excursions, snorkelling, swimming and simply walking around to soak in the flavour, we got to know that there are bungalows in Mauritius as staying options too. Offering almost the same facilities and comfort, these bungalows are a good option if it’s just you and your partner seeking for some time in the seclusion – and not requiring the spread of options in the form of more numbers of rooms as that of a villa.

Bungalow or a villa, whatever that you may deem fit, i would only suggest that you book in advance - or for an off-season trip – to enjoy the choicest lodging opportunity during your stay in Mauritius.

My Honeymoon in a Villa, Mauritius

It’s just been a couple of days since my return from Mauritius, and I just couldn’t stop reminiscing about the days my honeymoon celebrated out there. The trip happened to be notably a life changing experience for us. How instantly I fell in love with the wonderful island of tranquility, solace and exotic ambiance all around. Imagine lying on the glowing sand beaches, awe-inspiring view of the azure ocean. We organized our stay at a lush four- bedroom villa nestled in Roches-Noires, on the East coast of Mauritius. Here, I steal a moment to extend my gratitude to the managers, the villa operators-in-charge who made us feel so comfortable all through the stay, making it larger-than-life and unforgettable with its wholesome package of facilities and privileges all around the world.

I tell you villas offer the fabulous option for honeymooners with an entirely different experience. The villas in Mauritius are all set within breathtaking nature. You can book your own spacious villa on rent with three to four bedrooms, equipped with utilities and leisure options.  I was told surprises come in pairs and this was a great one.

The luxury villas Mauritius were beautifully padded with landscaped gardens, infinity pools, spacious patios, ocean front dining rooms, BBQs. The superior services at Villa Les Dunes made our celebration private and generated that ‘’at home’’ feeling during our honeymoon. The American-type kitchen opening on the dining room, itself opening wide on the pool-deck and kiosk, all overlooking the beach and sea... I had the feeling I was ruling on this island. Whoa! No fairy tale offered such great setting, something I never experienced before. The master-bedroom upstairs was in the roof, yet fully air-conditioned, with its modern, tastefully-designed bathroom gives you warm feel. A wide opening allowed an ocean-view from the bed. The other bedrooms were air-conditioned too and all very comfortable.

There was so much to be an adrenaline junkie that each day we were torn lounging on the beach trying new activities like parasailing, kite surfing, golf or even taking a short helicopter tour over our own villa. My favorite star attractions include the time I had in spas getting detoxed and what to say about kite surfing, the place is known as the world’s best kite surfing location for its flat water blasting in the lagoon ranging from small to large to suit. We certainly had the best afternoon exploring the stupendous landscapes, waterfalls and plethora of endemic wildlife best known as unique in Mauritius. It was the best of the best 11-day honeymoon trip off to Mauritius. Fun-filled, romantic, adventurous, breathtaking, endemic wildlife, delectable Mauritian cuisine, that’s the entire wonderful island is all about.

I am filled with lot more thrilled experiences of the trip, will keep posting my readers.
